John Everson

John Everson is a staunch advocate for the culinary joys of the jalapeno and an unabashed fan of 1970s European horror cinema.  He is also the Bram Stoker Award-winning author of COVENANT,  SACRIFICE and seven other novels, including the creature feature spiderfest VIOLET EYES, the erotic horror Bram Stoker Award finalist NIGHTWHERE, and his latest REDEMPTION, the over-the-top conclusion to the COVENANT trilogy. Other novels include THE FAMILY TREE, THE PUMPKIN MAN, SIREN and THE 13TH. Over the past 25 years, his short stories have appeared in more than 75 magazines and anthologies. He is the founder of the independent press Dark Arts Books and has written novelettes for THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and Jonathan Maberry’s V-WARS universe (Books 1 and 3) as well as stories for THE GREEN HORNET and KOLCHAK, THE NIGHT STALKER anthologies. He has had several short fiction collections issued by independent presses, including CAGE OF BONES & OTHER DEADLY OBSESSIONS, VIGILANTES OF LOVE, NEEDLES & SINS and most recently, SACRIFICING VIRGINS, released by Samhain Publishing at the end of 2015.  For more on his obsession with jalapenos and 1970s European horror cinema, as well as information on his fiction, art and music, visit www.johneverson.com.

Wednesday Chats are fairly laid back, informal, chill. They are also subject to change. This means a topic springs up almost without warning like grasshoppers in August.

Writing Your Book’s Back-Cover Copy

So you’ve written your book, you’ve chosen your title and cover design, and you’re breathing a sigh of relief. Now you have to decide what goes on the back cover. New authors sometimes rush this decision, writing the first thing that comes to mind. After all, it’s the back of the book. How important can it be?

A lot more important than a person might think. The hundred-and-fifty words you’ll place on your back cover are arguably the most important words in your entire book.

I will share one of my own Blurbs on my first published book along with the Revision of the same Blurb for my Author’s Revised Edition of the same title.
