Paste your submission into the email,\u00a0<strong>do not send an attachment<\/strong>. Do not hit reply!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the subject line &#8220;<strong>Submission: Labor Day Critique<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Copy this list and put it at the beginning of the email, with your answers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\t<li>Genre:\u00a0<\/li>\n\t<li>Format: (short story, novel, etc):\u00a0<\/li>\n\t<li>Section: (beginning, middle or end of piece)<\/li>\n\t<li>Name you intend to publish under:\u00a0<\/li>\n\t<li>Name you use in the chatroom:\u00a0\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u00a0<br\/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can add one or two sentences to set the scene, if needed. But no more than two sentences.\u00a0<br\/><br\/>Submissions must be received by\u00a03 pm ET\u00a0on\u00a0Sunday, 09\/02\/2018, to be eligible for chat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\" class=\"has-background has-very-light-gray-background-color\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submissions that follow the guidelines will be used in the order they are received. I don&#8217;t know how many we will get through, but the queue starts when the first correct submission is received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I strongly suggest you submit polished work. Most of our chatters are aiming for publication.\u00a0To get there, you have to be able to handle honest critiques. I will not allow personal attacks, but problems in the writing will be openly discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are not in attendance, your submission will be skipped. It&#8217;s a waste of everyone&#8217;s time to critique something if the author isn&#8217;t there to hear it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fiction, nonfiction, essay, query letter&#8230;it doesn&#8217;t matter. I recommend trying to get an entire scene into 300 words. Full scenes get better critiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why only 300 words? More than that will scroll off the screen too quickly. People need to be able to read it, to give a good crit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please be on time for this chat. Crosstalk, including greetings, will be kept to a bare minimum.
